Great candidate forum tonight in the Mt. Pleasant community moderated by @tomsherwood. From federal intervention to housing and public safety, a lot of ground was covered. Favorite question of the night to candidates: Who would you rank #2?

Our beloved nation's capital has been plagued with, unsafe streets , unreliable transportation, rising houseing costs, and an unfriendly business environment.... and not to mention the egregious rat infestation.

Jett will prioritize you and your family's safety by immediately introducing legislation that will bolster the hiring of the nearly 800 Metropolitan police department officer vacancies! He will also create and introduce new legislation streamlining the permitting process to encourage more affordable rental housing being built across the ward.

Ward 1 is vibrant and evolving, but with that growth comes real challenges in affordability, public safety, and small business support. I am running to bring executive experience and a "service-first" mentality to the Council seat. My focus is simple: a transparent government, the responsible use of your tax dollars, and policies that ensure longtime residents and new neighbors alike can thrive in the place we love and call home.

In addition to my executive background, I've served on multiple community boards and commissions ranging from public food banks, to land-use and "open space" appointments. I also bring years of experience working with public access media and hospitality companies in fast-paced, high-pressure operations. Hospitality teaches a lesson that is essential for public service: when people raise concerns, you listen; when systems fail, you fix them; and when trust is broken, you work tirelessly to rebuild it.

As the former President and CEO of multiple nonprofit and for-profit organizations, I have spent years leading mission-driven work focused on strengthening communities. In these roles, I was responsible for setting visions, managing complex budgets, and overseeing staff, all while maintaining the highest levels of transparency and accountability. I know what it means to be responsible for people and outcomes—and I know that in leadership, you are only as good as the trust the community places in you.

I am running to represent Ward 1 because our neighborhoods deserve leadership that understands both our community’s core values and the mechanics of how to make government work effectively and efficiently. My career has been defined by a commitment to practical leadership, responsible stewardship of resources, and community-centered problem-solving.
